Merged system LSI company opens doors

The consolidation of the system LSI businesses of Fujitsu and Panasonic has been finalised with the launch of Socionext, said by the partners to be Japan's leading system LSI company.

"I am delighted to announce that Socionext starts operations today," said Yasuo Nishiguchi, chairman and CEO, pictured left with Amane Inoue, president and COO. "I am confident that, by sharing the same goals and working together to meet the new challenges, this newly assembled team will be able to create a company trusted by partners worldwide and one that everybody is proud to work for."

The deal was originally announced in February 2013 as a means of building a 'competitive global business', with operations planned to start in October 2014, with 3000 employees and annual sales of around €1billion.

Fujitsu and the Development Bank of Japan hold 40% each of the new company, with Panasonic taking the remaining 20%.
