Minister mentions Europe
Lord Younger was a late substitute this morning for industry minister Michael Fallon as the keynoter for Future World Symposium.
As you might expect, he ran through the usual list of things, including Government support for the electronics industry and its ambition to address skills issues.
But there was one interesting thing which Lord Younger – IP minister – included in his keynote and that was a mention, if only briefly, of Europe's ECSEL project. ECSEL is the new top level name for an undertaking which brings together the ARTEMIS, ENIAC and EPOS programmes.
Historically, the UK has been reluctant to involve itself in European research projects. Does this signal the start of a new approach?
