Smartwatches and Sir Clive’s calculator
All the excitement about smartwatches brings to mind the Sinclair Wrist Calculator, launched by Sir Clive in around 1977. Around 18mm thick, this really wasn't something you'd want to wear and, according to some people, not the kind of thing you'd actually want to use as a calculator.
Sir Clive, for those who might not remember, specialised in developing consumer products which were generally ahead of their time and which couldn't be supported by the technology of the day.
Although the legendary Sinclair ZX and Spectrum computers bucked the trend, he was also responsible for commercial flops like the Black Watch, the Flat Screen Pocket TV and, of course, the C5 electric bike.
