Electrical, electronic or programmable electronic systems (PESs) increasingly carry out safety functions in all application sectors. For computer system technology to be effectively and safely exploited it is essential that critical guidance is given on the safety aspects of these systems. This international standard provides a basis for best practice by considering all relevant E/E/PES and software safety lifecycle phases, from concept to implementation and finally decommissioning.
