Embedded systems technology gives designers more bang for their buck. By Graham Pitcher.

Just like the Olympic Games’ motto – faster, higher, stronger – embedded systems designers could use something like ‘smaller, faster, cheaper’ on their coat of arms – translated into Latin, of course.
There’s a range of technology helping the embedded system designer achieve those goals, but microcontrollers and, increasingly, programmable logic are the lead enablers.
