32bit mcu range targets automotive applications

The AUDO MAX family of 32bit microcontrollers from Infineon is intended to be used in automotive powertrain and chassis applications. Supporting the design of engine management systems meeting the Euro 5 and Euro 6 emission standards, the range also enables the electrification of powertrain functions in electrical vehicles.
Key features of the family are clock frequencies of up to 300MHz, high speed interfaces such as SENT and FlexRay, and support for advanced safety engineering through the PRO-SIL features.
"The AUDO MAX family provides very high performance and real time capabilities that no other available microcontroller for powertrain and chassis applications is able to match," said Peter Schaefer, general manager, microcontrollers, of Infineon's automotive division. "Two devices in the family, the TC1793 and TC1798, operate at up to 300MHz, making them 66% faster than their predecessors."
Based on the TriCore processor architecture and manufactured in 90nm process technology, the devices are available in four flash and clock speed variants, as well as in a choice of two bga packages.
Infineon's PRO-SIL (safety integrity level) helps automotive system suppliers and car manufacturers to put safety relevant features into practice and in the design of systems conforming to IEC61508 or ISO26262.
PRO-SIL allows the implementation of a memory protection feature in order to separate the safety critical and non safety critical software. Additionally, PRO-SIL allows implementation of error code correction and checksum verification to ensure the integrity of calculations.
