$35million funding for Flash memory start up
Start up company Violin Memory has been awarded $35million in Series B funding from Toshiba and Juniper Networks. The investment will be used to expand and develop the company's Flash memory arrays, which it claims are the fastest and most scalable in the world. The memory arrays incorporate Violin's patent pending Flash vRAID technology and have already been employed by AOL, HP and Microsoft.
CEO Don Basile, pictured, who cofounded the company in 2005, hopes the investment will put Violin in a strong position to deliver Flash memory arrays to the world's leading enterprise data centres. "We are honoured by the continued support from Toshiba and welcome Juniper Networks to our investor base," he said. "We are aggressively expanding our partnership and distribution capabilities in 2011 and look forward to another record setting year of growth in this large global market."
