Abacus targets led market
Abacus has launched a new division to support the rapidly growing solid state lighting market.
AbacusLED, created in partnership with Osram, is also backed by Everlight, Texas Instruments, National Semiconductor, ST Microelectronics, Power Integrations, 3M and Aavid Thermalloy.
AbacusLED is intended to help customers keep up with developments in led technology. Mike Hall, Abacus Group led business development specialist, pictured left, said: “The pace of innovation in this domain is huge. Over the last four years, the efficiency of led lights has quadrupled, so they now match the performance of fluorescent lights and exceed that of halogen.”
Abacus Group semiconductor marketing director Glenn Jarrett, pictured right, added: “With concerns surrounding the efficiency, lifetime, handling and environmental impact of incandescent and long life light bulb technology, we believe leds will provide the lighting solutions of the future.”
