According to ams, it is the leading supplier of analogue active noise cancellation (ANC) technology to companies developing headphones and earphones. Incus, which brings expertise in acoustic characterisation, has a suite of noise cancellation system design tools that will enable a new range of digital ANC solutions.
“ams already has a strong position in the ANC market,” said Vincent Pronk, general manager of the company’s audio sensors business. “Incus’ IP for digital noise cancellation will broaden our ANC offering while maintaining our reputation for excellent performance and design characteristics at a competitive cost.”
Incus’ IP can run on a variety of general-purpose DSP cores, bringing a high level of noise attenuation across a broad frequency range. It also features phase shift technology, compensating for latency in the digital signal processing chain. Incus’ IP also supports the use of advanced speakers and microspeakers.
As part of the agreement, Incus’ staff, including the founders and executive management team, will transfer to ams, which will maintain Incus’ IP licensing business.
