Anritsu goes back to basics with low cost VNA family

By providing designers with only the essential functions needed for S-parameter test, Anritsu says it has been able to lower the cost of traditional vector network analysers (VNAs) by 75%.
The ShockLine family of 2 and 4port RF VNAs is intended for the testing of passive devices such as cables, connectors, filters and antennas in a range of applications.
Anritsu says it offers high accuracy, sensitivity and sweep speed, in a smaller form factor and at a considerably lower cost than today's bench top VNAs.
The analysers can perform the single-ended and mixed-mode S-parameter measurements typically required for production testing of passive devices, offering frequency coverage up to 40GHz.
They can also conduct path loss characterisation of complex systems.
The VNAs feature no display or keypad, and are controlled remotely by computer via a LAN or other connection. A small 2U chassis allows the VNAs to easily slide into rack configurations.
Anritsu's director of marketing, Jonathan Borrill, told New Electronics: "Prior to the launch of the ShockLine series, engineers were forced to use high priced, full featured VNA products in applications where basic S-parameter and time domain measurements and affordability were preferred.
"With this new RF VNA family, we've gone back to basics and are giving engineers only the tools they need. As such we've been able to drastically lower cost and form factor, without compromising performance."
