Anti-jam system protects troops during combat

A breakthrough single enclosure GPS anti-jam system has been unveiled by QinetiQ and NovAtel. The companies' GAJT is the first of its kind and small enough to be mounted on light armoured and other land based military vehicles.
During combat, intentional GPS jamming denies a position solution over a wide area. The GAJT is a seven element controlled reception pattern antenna that nulls the effect of multiple jammers and retains GPS positioning during missions. According to Michael Ritter, president and ceo of NovAtel, it is 'game changing' technology that will protect the positioning and blue force tracking of troops on the ground. "GAJT is the first GPS anti-jam system that is small enough, and at a price point that makes sense to use on land based military vehicles such as light armoured vehicles."
A COTS product, the device is an externally mounted single unit enclosure and no additional electronics are required inside the vehicle, other than power and a single rf cable, that connect to legacy GPS receivers. Because the design is simple, it is quick to install and is easy to integrate into both existing and new platforms.
The GAJT will be available for authorised customers in Q3 2011.
