Bi directional dc/dc converters
Pulse Power & Measurement has launched a new series of power converters. The UDIO range is designed to offer engineers a standard power electronics block that can be programmed to perform a number of different tasks.
According to PPM, the UDIO acts like a variable dc transformer, allowing designers to step up or down in voltage to control current flow between two dc circuits. This allows a variable voltage dc source, such as a supercapacitor bank, to be buffered by a UDIO and provides a constant dc voltage to a load until almost all of the energy has been extracted from the capacitor bank.
The devices are available in 25 and 75A current holding capacity. They are targeted at PV, energy storage and fuel cell applications.
