Blackfin range extended with four twin core devices
Analog Devices has extended its Blackfin range with the launch of four dual core processors.
Two – the BF608 and BF609 – are optimised for embedded vision applications, while the BF606 and BF607 and targeted at general purpose dsp applications.
The BF608/609 feature Pipelined Vision Processor (PVP), a high performance video analytics accelerator comprised of a set of configurable processing blocks designed to accelerate up to five concurrent image algorithms. These features are said to suit the parts to applications such as automotive advanced driver assistance systems, industrial machine vision and security/surveillance systems.
The BF606/607, supplied without the PVP, are designed to provide flexibility for a range of general purpose dsp applications, such as wireless communications, industrial process control and electric power grid monitoring/protection.
All four processors have two 500MHz cores, as well as access to what the company says is the largest on chip memory available within the Blackfin family. Typical power consumption for the BF609 is 400mW.
