Brushless dc motor driver cuts board space by 80%
TI's new brushless dc motor driver, the DRV10963, is designed to reduce board space by 80% and extend battery life by 25%.
The sensorless, 5V device has a low operating range of 2.1 to 5.5V. It incorporates an ultra low power MSP430G2452 microcontroller with built in timers, up to 16 I/O touch sense enabled pins, built in communication, integrated power mosfets and an analogue comparator.
Commutation logic has also been integrated to eliminate code development. TI says the device provides the lowest possible quiescent current of 15uA, compared to competing devices which offer 30uA.
