Buck regulator is user definable
A synchronous buck regulator from Fairchild boasts user definable features to allow performance to be optimised.
FAN8060 is a 1MHz, 1A integrated synchronous step down regulator for dc/dc conversion, has a peak efficiency greater than 95%. The device also offers a fast transient response time, responding swiftly to sudden changes in load. A soft start function is also provided.
Designers can adjust external compensation to optimise the transient response for any condition, says Fairchiled, adding that the user selectable current limit provides protection against output overload and short circuits, while an external sync pin reduces emi and crosstalk.
Accepting inputs ranging from 2.5 to 5.5V and supplied in a 10lead 3 x 3mm MLP package, the FAN8060 is targeted at applications such as GPS devices, PDAs, MP3 players, USB devices and digital cameras.
