C-MAC selected as MEAD partner
C-MAC MicroTechnology has announced its selection as a partner in the MEMS Application for Defence (MEAD) consortium, led by QinetiQ. The MEAD consortium will develop Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology for the defence industry in a MoD backed project, with £3.2million of funding over three years.
“C-MAC has worked in the defence sector with QinetiQ for several years and we have a thorough understanding of its stringent technical and operational requirements,” stated C-MAC ceo, Indro Mukerjee. “MEMS technology is experiencing an exciting and progressive stage of evolution, and being invited to join the MEAD consortium is a reflection of the world-class expertise and knowledge that C-MAC engineers can deliver in this area.”
C-MAC will use its MEMS packaging expertise to provide the MEAD consortium with hermetic enclosures for the delicate MEMS devices, protecting them from environmental contamination and ensuring their integrity in the harsh environments in which they will operate.
