CDT acquired by Sumitomo for $285million
In a move which values the company at $285million, Sumitomo Chemical has acquired oled pioneer Cambridge Display Technology.
Spun out of Cambridge University in 1992, CDT is a leading research and commercialisation of the light emitting polymer (LEP) technology used in flat panel displays, lighting and photovoltaic applications. The company holds an extensive patent and know how portfolio relating to the use of conjugated polymers and the manufacture of devices based on them.
CDT has worked closely with Sumitomo over recent years and the two companies operate a joint venture called Sumation, which is developing next generation of polymer materials for OLED applications.
