Chip brings superior motion sensing to portable devices
Adding to its iNEMO family, STMicroelectronics has introduced a 6-axis inertial motion sensing device for portable devices such as smartphones and tablets.
The 'always on' LSM6DB0 is designed to detect orientation and gestures at a much faster rate than competing solutions, while consuming 40% less power.
In addition, ST says the device is the only one on the market to run all of the sensor related features specified in Android KitKat 4.4 on board.
"Our new iNEMO product is the market's 'brainiest' 6-axis motion sensing device that can run all sensor related software on chip within previously unattainable power budgets," said Benedetto Vigna, executive vp and general manager of ST's analogue, MEMS & sensors group.
