Cloak of invisibility a reality?
Harry Potter fans will be intrigued to hear that the infamous ‘cloak of invisibility’ could soon become a reality.
A paper prepared at Boston University, will be presented at the International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM) in San Francisco.
The university paper describes how students have fabricated resonant terahertz metamaterials on freestanding polyimide substrates with excellent mechanical flexibility and robustness.
The result, the paper claims, provides a path forward for creating multi layer nonplanar meta materials at terahertz frequencies and could serve as an ‘important step forward’ in constructing a functional THz cloak of invisibility.
