Debug probe ‘fastest and smartest ever built’

Green Hills Software has announced it has added support for Intel architecture to the Green Hills Probe – which it says is the fastest and smartest debug probe ever built. The official European launch was announced at the Embedded Systems Conference in Farnborough.
The probe supports the latest Intel architecture, including the Intel Atom, Core2 Duo and Corei7 and uses a shielded, microcoaxial, impedance-controlled cable and connector system.
The cable has been tested up to one metre for 100MHz JTAG operation and has been designed to let users operate in flexible configurations, including tight places. When changing to a different debug port, the probe instantly recognises the adapter and configures itself.
Intel's general manager, Embedded Computing Division, Joe Jensen, said: "We highly value the strength of our ecosystem to help enable a world of 15billion intelligent connected devices we see deployed by 2015. Adding the probe to Green Hill's portfolio supporting Intel architecture will offer developers additional choice for product development."
David Kleidermacher, chief technology officer, Green Hills Software, added: "Green Hills Software is pleased to expand its high speed probe support to Intel processors. Software, hardware and firmware / BIOS developers, across embedded, mobile, desktop and server segments are extremely pleased to have a world class chip level debugging environment for Intel processors."
