Dual buck regulator, 'industry's smallest'
Described as 'the industry's smallest' dual buck (step down) regulator, Analog Devices' ADP5022 device is said to be half the size of other multi output converters.
Incorporating an additional 150mA on chip low dropout regulator, ADI says the 2 x 2 x 0.6mm device eliminates up to 12 discrete components from handheld instrumentation equipment and mobile devices. This is due to the 3MHz regulators included in the ADP5022 which is said to provide fixed voltage outputs and internal compensation.
The compact size of the dual 600mA step down converter allows designers to place the power regulation alongside the point of load. The buck regulators employ a low noise driver technique, high switching speed and out of phase clocking designed to further reduce noise.
ADI says that the combination of size, low noise architecture and high switching frequency makes the ADP5022 suitable for powering sensitive analogue circuits such as high resolution analoge to digital converters.
