The Cypress WICED Studio 4 development platform includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth protocol stacks, along with simplified application programming interfaces that are said to free developers from needing to learn about complex wireless technologies.
Brian Bedrosian, Cypress’ senior director of consumer IoT, noted: “We have been working on integrating more functionality into the software development kit. We’ve integrated connection technology into a library-like environment which spans all the way from devices to the cloud and which is portable across multiple CPUs.
“Keeping design cycle time down is important. By including application code and tools, we can help to minimise the cost of development.”
The kit – which supports Cypress’ CYW 43438 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and the CYW 20719 Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy parts – features an installer package for multiple wireless technologies and an Eclipse-based IDE that runs on multiple operating systems.
Microcontroller agnostic, the platform is said to enable cost efficient solutions for simple IoT applications by integrating MCU functionality into the connectivity device.
