Electronics start up secures $5.6million from Samsung and Nokia
An electronics start up company that specialises in the development of next generation touchscreen technology, has secured $5.6million in a series B round of funding. The funding has come from Samsung, Nokia and Benaroya Capital.
Swype develops easier ways to type on onscreen keyboards and Samsung has already shipped one commercial device, the Omnia II Windows Mobile smartphone. It has plans to integrate further Swype technologies in its phones.
Swype's unique 'Genius Texting' system allows users to wave their finger off the screen, dragging it from letter to letter until a word is completed. According to the start up, this allows for faster texting than traditional methods.
