Kontron has unveiled its first embedded ARM based motherboard in the Mini-ITX form factor (170 x 170mm). Featuring an NvidiaTegra 3 processor, the board is designed for low energy consumption.
Using an integrated, GeForce gpu, the ARM Cortex-A9 900MHz quad core processor board is said to deliver a total energy consumption of just under 7W. This makes it suitable for a range of graphics oriented embedded applications such as thin clients, panel pcs and mini box pcs.
The board features several usb and RS232 interfaces, audio and video interfaces as well as miniPCIe extension slots. With a height of 15.2mm, flat systems can be built and mounted directly onto the back of monitor and video panels, such as HMIs and digital signage players. Full hd (1080p) video is supported for both playback and recording, which according to Kontron makes it an ideal platform for video conferencing systems and security applications.
The company claims the board's low power consumption also facilitates small passive cooling solutions which can reduce materials cost and development time.
