Embedded World 2014: Altium unveils Designer 14.2

Altium has released the latest version of its flagship design software tool at Embedded World.
"This update to Altium Designer is all about optimisation and continues to focus on enhancements, performance updates and fixes to our core technologies," said Dave Read, director of product marketing for Altium.
Altium Designer 14.2 is focused around the use of copper areas on the PCB. As a result, the comapny says users can now experience a significantly faster repour speed.
The release also includes enhancements for the PCB drill table, enhanced indication of disabled PCB design rules, support for Subversion 1.8 and global bookmarks in Smart PDF, and schematic support for vector graphics.
Altium also announced today a new version of its TASKING C compiler for ARM Cortex-M.
The platform includes the company's Software Platform technology with a range of middleware components like an RTOS, TCP/IP stack, web servers and support for USB, CAN, GUI and touch control.
It also offers support for Cortex-M based microcontrollers and starterkits from STMicroelectronics, Freescale, Infineon, Spansion and Silicon Labs.
