Engineers mostly happy at work
More than two thirds (69%) of engineering professionals polled by Reed Engineering said they were satisfied or very satisfied in their current role.
The majority of engineers (87%) considered their current role to be secure, higher than the national average, with 92% of engineering professionals with management responsibility describing their workforce as stable or very stable.
Almost two thirds (62%) of managers in the engineering sector said they were worried about losing talented individuals and 37% reported a skills gap in their organisation.
In a statement, Reed Engineering said that with the outlook for the engineering sector remaining bright, companies retention strategies were 'as important' as attracting new people.
It is estimated that more than a third of employees will be looking for new opportunities in the year ahead.
