Fingertip tracking technology is ‘world’s first’
Gesture recognition specialist eyeSight has launched what it claims to be the world's first commercially available fingertip tracking software.
The technology allows users to control a range of devices, even from across a room, by simply pointing their finger directly at the screen.
"Just as Apple made control via touchscreens feel completely natural a few years ago, we're hoping to do the same thing with gesture," said eyeSight's ceo Gideon Shmuel.
"Our fingertip tracking makes gesture feel so intuitive that eventually people will use it without even thinking about it. Now we're hoping to make this capability available in consumer devices produced by our customers."
The new system works at a range of 70cm to 5m and is designed to be easy to integrate into almost any digital device with a camera.
According to eyeSight, it can even recognise which individuals to track in a crowded room.
