Increasing demand for electronic control systems has been accompanied by growing demand for high-performance non-volatile memories. Because FRAM is non-volatile, provides high-speed random access and has high write endurance, it is said to suit reliable storage of sensor data in applications such as air bag data storage, event data recorders, battery management systems, automatic driving assistance systems (ADAS) and navigation and infotainment systems.
The MB85RS256TY features a 256kbit FRAM with an SPI interface. Running from a supply in the range from 1.8 to 3.6V, the device can operate in temperatures ranging from -40 to 125°C; not only satisying automotive requirements, but also those of demanding industrial applications. With a write endurance of 1013 cycles, the FRAM is supplied in an SOP-8 package.
Dr Klaus-Peter Dyck, the company’s senior manager of marketing and applications, said: “With products such as our FRAM solution, we support innovative companies, enabling them to make their ideas a reality.”
