Targeting the smart home, GreenPeak Technologies has unveiled a chip to support all communication between Zigbee RF4CE enabled devices and a set top box or gateway.
The company says its GP510 communication controller chip is the answer to increasing market demand for turning the set top box into the internet gateway for the home.
"The market for ZigBee RF4CE is ramping quickly and we see the remote control/set top box market now growing into the millions per month," commented Cees Links, founder and ceo of GreenPeak. "The GP510 is GreenPeak's answer to this increasing demand and delivers an optimised architecture for the new generation set top box."
The chip is designed to enable full home coverage in a crowded wireless 2.4Ghz environment. The company says it features superior WiFi interference robustness as well as antenna diversity technology, which results in approximately twice the reliable range of similar systems.
The chip is fully compliant with the IEEE 802.15.4 standard and optimised to provide robust spread spectrum data communication with a highly secure encrypted data flow.
