High current density single phase rectifiers come in small packages

Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a series of enhanced high current density single phase PowerBridge rectifiers with current ratings ranging from 30 to 45A. Maximum peak reverse voltage ratings of 600 to 1000V are claimed, as is a high case dielectric strength of 1500V.
According to the company, the 45A devices are the first single in line bridge rectifiers in the PowerBridge package, which features a body size of 30 x 20 x 3.8mm.
The thermal construction of the PowerBridge devices allows heat to dissipate more efficiently, says Vishay. The rectifiers are thus able to provide the same power ratings as larger devices, while requiring smaller heat sinks.
Suitable for ac/dc rectification in switchmode power supplies for desktop pcs, servers, pdp tvs, lcd tvs, and audio/video systems, the parts can also be used for power inversion in domestic appliances.
There are four families of device available, each with three models rated at 600, 800 and 1000V. The PB30xx family is rated at 30A, the PD35xx family is rated at 35A, the PB40xx family is rated at 40A and the PB50xx family is rated at 45A.
