High current power inductors offer low DCR
1 min read
Frequency control specialist, Total Frequency Control has expanded its range of power inductors with a low dcr and high current low profile package.
According to TFC, the high current is achievable in the power inductor as it wastes no air space due to the special construction compound. This consists of the internal wound coil being packed tightly with magnetic iron powder and a shielded case which helps the inductor to produce a much lower audible noise.
Measuring 10.2 x 12.3mm, the DPI1210 series has an inductance range of 0.22~4.7µH and a rated current of 15~56Amps. It is suitable for desktop and server applications, dc/dc converters in distributed power systems and vga graphics cards. The inductor is of low profile in height (approximately 10mm depending on spec.) and has dc current characteristics at high temperatures with frequencies ranging up to 5MHz.
TFC marketing manager, Craig Wells, said "The DPI1210 series of high current power inductors is a new addition to go alongside our range of SMD and leaded power inductors. As with many of our custom wound / frequency control products, samples are available on request in only two to four weeks."
