HiSilicon Technologies – previously the asic design centre for Huawei Technologies – has announced the K3V2, which features four ARM Cortex-A9 cores, a 16 core super GPU and a 64bit memory system.
"Mobile computing has entered an exciting era. Consumers are spending more and more time using mobile devices and are keen to transfer the PC experience to their mobile device," said Jerry Su, HiSilicon's chief architect and senior director of mobile processors. "We designed an ultra low power and high performance quad core cpu and 16 core GPU architecture. In order to improve battery life, we designed an Artificial Intelligence Power Scaling mechanism, which can manage the number of working cores and the status of cpu and gpu automatically by hardware."
* Meanwhile, HiSilicon and imec have entered into a strategic research collaboration to develop innovative rf transceiver architectures.
Liesbet Van der Perre, director of imec's green radio program line, said: "We are looking forward to a close cooperation with the HiSilicon research team to develop together our upcoming generation of breakthrough rf designs."
