Industry’s fastest 6A mosfet driver claims Intersil
Intersil has announced what it says is the industry's first dual channel 6A mosfet driver capable of driving two outputs each with 6A of peak drive current.
The ISL89367 is designed for applications such as switching power supplies, motor drivers and Class-D amplifiers.
According to Intersil, the driver's fast rise and fall times assure lower power losses and improvements in efficiency over competitive devices, with drive voltages ranging from 4.5 to 16V. Programmable switching delay times are designed to prevent shoot through current between mosfets and allow optimisation for maximum efficiency and reduced emi.
Intersil adds that for isolated applications, the device's precision logic thresholds simplify the design of synchronous rectification on the secondary side of the transformer. Internal timers can be programmed to provide up to 270ns of drive and, for applications that require longer times, precision comparator input thresholds allow simple rc circuits to generate longer time delays.
