Industry's 'highest density' non-volatile RAM system for critical data back up
1 min read
Non-volatile RAM specialist, Agiga Tech – a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor has introduced what it claims is the market's highest density, high speed non-volatile RAM system.
The Agigaram non volatile system's Capri range is said to deliver between 256 megabytes and 2 gigabytes. According to Agiga Tech, the turnkey family can leverage a DDR2 SDRAM interface to deliver speeds up to 800MHz with peak transfer rates equivalent to DRAMs. Features include zero standby power, power interruption immunity, instant on/recovery and unified memory architectures.
It is suitable for a range of applications from storage, networking and communications to industrial computing, medical equipment and gaming systems.
Ron Satore, ceo of Agiga Tech, said: "Our flexible Capri products come in multiple form factors and host interfaces, enabling rapid time to market and high performance."
The system incorporates a battery free power subsystem, along with a high speed synchronous DRAM, NAND Flash, intelligent power management and a proprietary system controller. During operation, the Agigaram functions like an SDRAM, but when power is lost, it automatically saves data to NAND Flash using the energy stored in the power subsystem. When power is restored, the data is transferred back into the SDRAM, suitable for power interruption, instant on recover and service and maintenance processing.
