An initiative to grow the UK's share of the £135billion global power electronics market has been launched today by the IET, NMI and the ESP KTN.
The PowerelectronicsUK Forum is being undertaken in partnership with government. The aim is to ensure that the UK is recognised as a world leader in power electronics, bringing jobs and investment to the country.
As part of the initiative, NMI is producing a roadmap to identify key technologies that can be exploited by UK industry and used to communicate to government the most effective and strategic funding opportunities.
NMI's ceo Derek Boyd commented: "We're delighted to see continued momentum behind the Power Electronics Strategy with the launch of the forum today. We're also pleased to announce the role NMI will play in creating a unique, cross sector technology roadmap for UK industry to guide research and investment decisions.
"In this way, we can proactively collaborate with funding bodies with the benefit of informing government investment for economic benefit. If you are part of UK's thriving power electronics industry, please accept my invitation to join this newly formed community."
