Innovative solution allows flexible led lighting in cars
A new automotive technology has been developed by NXP that enables led modules to be individually programmed after being installed in a car, rather than during the manufacturing process.
Using the company's 'node position detection' method, the integrated solution enables customisable lighting options by allowing the LIN addresses of the led modules to be programmed after they have been mounted.
The UJA1018 integrates a LIN transceiver and a LIN switch for node position detection, along with a voltage regulator and drivers for tri-colour leds. NXP says the compact HVSON package also enables the creation of small form factor modules and meets the SAE J2602 standard for LIN conformance.
"With the UJA1018 and its unique node position detection technology based on a LIN switch, NXP enables car oems to offer personalised ambient lighting solutions to end consumers," commented Toni Versluijs, general manager of in vehicle networking at NXP. "At the same time, it saves system costs and simplifies logistics for both OEMs and tier one suppliers."
