Intel could buy Infineon's wireless chip unit within days
Intel is reportedly in talks to acquire Infineon Technologies' wireless chip unit, according to the Wall Street Journal. The German company's products include baseband chips used in smart phones, such as the Apple iPhone 4.
The company is purportedly looking for up to $2billion for the unit and has also been in discussions with Samsung Electronics and Broadcom.
Rumours circulated a few months ago that Intel was keen to acquire Infineon, but according to the Wall Street Journal, 'people familiar with the situation' have said a deal could be signed within days.
