Intel launches 45nm processors for laptops

Intel is shipping five new mobile processors, boosting performance and battery life. A new Intel Core microarchitecture design feature, called Deep Power Down Technology, reduces the processor’s power consumption when it's not running data or instructions. Three quad core and four dual core 45nm based processors for mainstream desktop pcs were also unveiled. The Intel Core 2 Quad and Intel Core 2 Duo processors bring more performance at a variety of pc purchase prices, with a range of clock speeds and large L2 caches. Four Xeon processors for servers and workstations will ship later this quarter.
