Intersil acquisition boosts its position in China

Intersil has announced it is to acquire Rock Semiconductor, a Chinese manufacturer of integrated power management ICs.
The analogue and mixed signal semiconductor specialist said the purchase will expand its presence in the Chinese and Asia/Pacific consumer electronics market.
Rock is a privately held, fabless semiconductor company and has design centres in Shanghai and Wuhan, China. The company provides analogue and mixed signal integrated circuits for wireless, audio, video and data communications markets. Its products are primarily consumer based and appear in applications such as cellular phones, personal navigation devices and portable multimedia players.
