Intersil unveils ‘world’s lowest cost pico projector system’
1 min read
Intersil has announced what it claims is the world's lowest cost pico projector system and the industry's smallest production ready led LCoS pico projector solution.
The Pico-qHD provides a fully integrated reference design that includes a high volume production optical engine, hardware, firmware and customisable design files. The solution utilises Micron's E330 compact 5.5cubic centimetre qHD optical engine and can be integrated into a wide range of applications including Micron's portable PoP Video pico projector.
Built on a 1.7 by 2inch pcb, the Pico-qHD is designed to meet the low manufacturing cost requirements of consumer applications such as digital cameras, smartphones, tablets and other handheld products.
"The emerging pico projector market will transform social sharing, but cost has been one of the biggest adoption barriers," said Susan Hardman, senior vice president of the analog and mixed signal products group at Intersil. "Our pico projector technology offers the lowest solution cost, while easily customisable reference designs provide customers flexibility to adapt pico projectors for their specific needs."
The platform is based on Intersil's ISL97901, a fully-integrated buck/boost RGGB led driver with a 2.0mA resolution. The system can drive up to 1.5A led current so it is compatible with a variety of high power leds, and can enable pico projector engines with brightness levels exceeding 20lumens.
