iPhone 5 set for summer launch claims Foxconn source

1 min read

The iPhone 5 is currently gearing up for production, according to a Foxconn employee in China who contacted 9to5mac.com.

The website owners describes the employee as a 'reliable source', who previously contacted them last year informing them that the iPhone 5 was not being launched and was to be replaced by the iPhone 4S. The source claims that sample iPhone5 devices already exist and, although they vary slightly from one another, they have several features in common. According to the source, the iPhone 5 has a 4in display (one of which has been made by LG), samples are symmetrical in thickness and are longer/wider. The sample devices are said not to have the iPhone 4/4S form factor and, despite rumours circulating in the lead up to the iPhone 4S, are not teardrop shaped. 9to5mac.com notes that production for the iPhone 4S didn't gear up until late Spring 2011 so, based on a five month lead time, it believes that Apple could be aiming for a summer launch.
