Kado has unveiled two chargers – one for smartphones and tablets, and one for laptops – both come with the company’s power conversion technology which is said to provide high levels of power density.
“Kado’s vision is to release the global market from the vicious cycle of the inverse relationship in which smartphones and tablets need faster charging to increase their mobility, which leads chargers to be more cumbersome and less mobile,” said co-CEO Itay Hasid.
“Our solutions replace the current bulky chargers and transformers with compact alternatives suited for today's mobile lifestyle.”
Kado Wallet, the charger for smartphones, is 5mm thick and can be carried in a wallet or a purse. It is also said to include a specially designed cable mechanism.
Weighing 21g, Kado Wallet supplies up to 10W and can also charge other mobile devices, such as tablets, cameras, wireless speakers and headphones.
Kado Sleeve for laptops is the first foldable charger, according to the company. It weighs 97g and provides up to 70W. It has two USB ports for the simultaneous charging of a laptop and a smaller device, such as a smartphone or a tablet.
The company believes its technology can also be applied to other industries such as consumer electronics, IoT, electric outlets, lighting, automotive, defence and medical devices.
In the coming weeks, the company intends to launch a Series A financing round to prepare for the commercial launch of its products in 2017.
