LDO regulator targets high reliability systems
Intersil has announced the development of a new radiation tolerant, ultra low dropout voltage regulator (LDO).
Said to deliver the industry's best performance for high reliability systems, the ISL75051SRH is targeted at aerospace and harsh environment applications. It has an operating temperature range of between -55 and 125°C and is offered an 18 lead hermetically sealed package.
The single output device is SMD approved and is immune to high dose radiation up to 100krads (Si). Intersil says it is also immune to single event effects without the need for additional diodes or filters, helping to reduce board space and system cost.
Dropout voltage is rated at 65mV at 1A, and 225mV at 3A, permitting increased efficiency and battery life.
Typical applications include dsp, fpga and microprocessor core power supplies, post regulation of switch mode power supplies and down hole oilfield drilling equipment.
