‘Lowest power’ a/d converter targets medical imaging applications
Texas Instruments' new octal a/d converter is said to provide the lowest power consumption in its class.
The 12bit, 100Mp/s device uses less than 80mW per channel, lowering board heat and power dissipation in higher channel density applications.
It incorporates TI's digital processing block, which combines commonly used digital functions to help improve signal to noise ratio and filter harmonics while reducing output data rate for narrow band applications.
Target applications include medical and industrial imaging applications, such as ultrasound, security X-ray and non destructive testing devices.
