MCU targeted at energy management systems
MSC is now offering the M306S0F8DGP 16bit microcontroller from Renesas Electronics. The mcu enables, to the greatest possible extent, interference free data communication over existing power lines.
The newest member in the M16C/6S family combines a M16C core, 64kbyte of flash and the IT800 powerline communication modem with differential code shift keying (DCSK) modulation on a single chip. DCSK modulation is said to ensure data transmissions are not disrupted by transients or distortions and to guarantee reliable communication over existing power lines.
Adhering to the HomePlug Command and Control industry alliance standards, the device is suited to use in energy management systems such as intelligent street lighting control, smart metering and networks within buildings.
Integration of the mcu core, flash memory and a powerline communication modem on one chip makes the device suitable for use in cost sensitive applications.
