MCUs break 50cent barrier
Flash microcontrollers intended for highly cost sensitive applications have been launched by STMicroelectronics. The ST7FOX series offers up to 8kbyte of on chip flash and all devices are said to cost less than 50cents.
Part of the ST7 mcu family, the new devices boast a simplified feature set and operate from a +5V power supply. Packaging options include dip, so8 and lqfp, with 8 to 32pins.
Designed to meet needs for reliable low end and low cost MCUs for cost critical applications, the devices offer an upgrade path to the ST7Lite family. Samples of the devices are now available.
