MEMS accelerometer provides full scale range up to ±18g
STMicroelectronics' new three axis MEMS accelerometer, the LIS344AHH, is designed to enhance gaming, user interface and augmented reality experiences - as well as industrial controls and impact monitoring - by providing a large, full scale range of up to ±18g, combined with high bandwidth, low noise and high mechanical and thermal stability.
The high bandwidth capability of the new device is said to permit a high output data rate, allowing sustained, accurate measurement of rapidly changing accelerations and enabling enhanced industrial controls, robotic equipment and wearable electronics such as sports monitors.
By combining high data rate with low noise operation that enables monitoring of small amplitude displacements, ST says the new accelerometer delivers smoother, more responsive performance in motion activated controls and also supports more demanding applications such as virtual augmented reality.
The LIS344AHH full scale range is user selectable up to ±6g or ±18g. The device has a supply voltage range of 2.4 to 3.6V, features embedded self test, and is housed in a 4 x 4 x 1.5mm 16lead LGA-16 package.
