Microchip has refocused its distribution network so that Avnet Electronics Marketing and Future Electronics will handle its products globally. As part of the refocusing, Microchip has terminated its relationship with Arrow with immediate effect.
The company says the moves, part of which sees Avnet Memec handle sales in the Americas, increase its reach. Microchip already has Avnet Silica serving European customers, whilst Avnet Electronics Marketing handles Asia. Meanwhile, Future Electronics will continue to handle Microchip products on a global basis.
Steve Sanghi, Microchip’s president and ceo, noted: “Microchip continues to build on its technical customer support focus with two global distributors – Avnet and Future – in its lineup. These two global distributors, combined with our regional and specialty distribution partners, support more than 60% of our worldwide business.”
According to the company, sales through Arrow – limited to Europe and the Americas – represented 7% of its global revenues.
