Microsemi has IGBTs for harsh environments
Microsemi has extended its range of non-punch through (NPT) insulated bipolar gate transistors (IGBTs) to include a 650V family offered in 45A, 70A and 95A current ratings.
It is expected that applications will emerge in harsh environments and industrial products such as switch mode power supplies, welders and solar inverters.
Microsemi claims the power devices improve efficiency by virtue of their loss performance - approximately 8% better than competing solutions. The IGBTs are based on the company's Power MOS 8 technology and enable switching speeds of up to 150kHz.
