Mil/aero bus converter reduces size and weight by half
Vicor has extended its product range of V•I Chip power components for airborne, naval and land based applications to include the MBCM270F450M270A00 non regulated MIL-COTS BCM bus converter.
Operating from a typical 270VDC MIL-STD-704E/F power rail, the new converter uses Vicor's proprietary Sine Amplitude Converter topology to deliver isolated power to a nominal 45V rail at more than 96% efficiency and 800W/in3 power density.
"Power to weight is a key metric for any mobile application – whether it's air, sea or land based – and here, the MBCM270 has a 4x advantage," said Stephen Oliver, vp of V•I Chip marketing and sales. "It's all about providing the system designer with small, efficient, lightweight systems with the right power to drive the end application.
Measuring 7mm and with a weight of 14.5g, the 45/48 Vout MBCM270F450M270A00 is available in surface mount technology, through hole and thermally enhanced VI BRICK package versions.
